With the funds raised by the Kent Great Big Dig, we are able to help the IWK purchase new patient monitors.
These will facilitate full monitoring of critically ill and injured children and youths. They will greatly assist in the Emergency Department’s response to individual needs as well as the IWK’s ability to respond to a mass casualty event.
There were approximately 29,000 visits to the Emergency Room Department last year. Their current monitors are over 10 years old and are in frequent need of extensive repairs. These new machines will allow the IWK to meet the monitoring needs of all patients as it ensures we can monitor vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation).
