Bruce Guthro
Bruce Guthro is an artist who has captivated audiences around the world with his honest, straight-to-the-heart songwriting, and live performances that are as engaging and personal as the man himself. Troubadour and storyteller, Bruce's music gets to the heart of the matter, and his success can be attributed to his ability to connect with his audience.
Along with his solo career, Bruce has also been, for the past eight years, lead singer for the Scottish super group - Runrig, which has a strong following in Europe and continues to grow internationally.
After all his achievements, Bruce remains as down-to-earth as when he first appeared on the Canadian music scene, writing truthfully and passionately about the world around him while leaving his audiences wanting more.
Eben Higgins
Eben Higgins of Truro, Nova Scotia, knows what it means to be part of the IWK Family. Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at seven weeks old, Eben has been a patient at the IWK’s Cystic Fibrosis Clinic for 18 years.
Eben has to take a multitude of pills before each meal to help aid his digestion as well as breathing. Despite these challenges, he refuses to let CF bring him down.
Eben leads a very productive and active life. He is a dedicated hockey player and is also the head coach for the local team in Truro. His dad is the assistant coach. This is Eben’s 13th year playing hockey – he started playing when he was six.
Eben first picked up the guitar about nine years ago and taught himself how to play. With appearances on the Telethon, and in his home town, Eben exemplifies how anything is possible when living with a chronic illness. His is a story of hope and inspiration.
